Pro tip for Zone 2 explorers: if you find a clutch of eggs, use a silken shovel. If you hit them with a pickaxe, the vibrations hatch the larvae immediately. Collect them whole for high-level alchemy recipes!

Step 1: Sneak. Step 2: Use silken shovel. Step 3: Profit. Don't carry them in your hotbar though, I heard they can still hatch if you take fire damage.

I DID NOT KNOW THIS. I've been fighting hundreds of larvae because I was just smashing the eggs. You're a lifesaver!
